Kickstart Scheme launched

The Government’s Kickstart scheme launched last week, with opportunities for businesses to facilitate 6 months work experience placements fully funded by the Government.

The aim is to enable 16-24 year olds currently in receipt of Universal Credit a chance to gain valuable work experience and develop employability skills to help them find work after the placements have ended.

Each placement must be for a minimum of 25 hours, which the government will fund at the appropriate minimum wage, and support Employer national insurance and pension contributions.

In addition, for each placement there is a grant of £1,500 to support set up costs (PPE, uniform etc) and training.

Applications for the Kickstart scheme must be for a minimum of 30 places, facilitated through an Employer or a Representative for a group of Employers.

For PCWY and NYCTG members, I am compiling a list of Employers who are interested in offering Work Experience placements. Please express your interest by emailing me.
